Undergraduate Internships
The Dauphin Island Sea Lab does not have a formal internship program.  However, occasionally internships are available to students through the research grants of individual DISL faculty members.  
                   
Summer Fellowships  
DISL will award up to five Summer Fellowships to undergraduate students during the summer term (May Term, First Session, Second Session).  Awards are made on an academically competitive basis to applicants of demonstrated financial need who are registered at one of the twenty-one MESC Member Schools and enrolled in classes at DISL for at least two of the three summer sessions (See the Summer School Program for course schedule information and registration procedures.).  Compensation:  Room and board, lab fees, and an activity fee (up to 12 weeks of enrollment).  Deadline for applications is February 13, 2008.

NSF REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Fellowships

DISL will offer seven NSF REU fellowships during the Summer Semester 2007 for undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers or graduate studies in Marine Sciences.  Student participants in this competitive program will gain basic research skills, learn analytical techniques, and interpretation and presentation proficiency.  By introducing students to the discipline and skills necessary in science, this program seeks to not only provide knowledge and understanding of the specifics of marine science, but to also develop the student's confidence to make career and educational choices in the future.  Compensation:  Stipend of $3,000 plus on-campus housing and food allowance ($600).  Students from outside the Mobile, AL., are can apply for limited travel assistance (up to $400.00)  Deadline for applications is February 15, 2007.

 
Work / Study Opportunities

Several part-time positions may be available to undergraduate students enrolled in a minimum of 4 semester hours during the summer term at DISL (May Term, First Session, Second Session).  Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in more than one session, but consideration will be given to students enrolled in only one session.  These positions when available will be listed below.  Deadline for applications is February 13, 2008.
